BIOGRAPHY
CSM John Hespe

Command Sergeant Major John R. Hespe enlisted in the United States Army on September 15, 2005. He completed One Station Unit Training (OSUT) at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, as a Joint Fire Support Specialist. Upon graduation, he was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment at Fort Riley, Kansas.

Throughout his career, CSM Hespe has served at numerous duty stations, including Fort Sill, Oklahoma; Fort Riley, Kansas; Fort Benning, Georgia; Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey; Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington; Saint Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas; Fort Bliss, Texas; and Fort Drum, New York. His operational experience includes two deployments to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and one deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

CSM Hespe has held a wide range of leadership positions, including Forward Observer, Fire Support NCO, Targeting NCO, Effects NCO, Platoon Sergeant, Senior Observer Coach/Trainer, Operations NCO, First Sergeant, Senior Military Science Instructor, and Operations Sergeant Major.

His military education includes the Basic Leaders Course, Advanced Leaders Course, Senior Leaders Course, Joint Fires Observer Course, Joint Firepower Course, Air Assault School, Battle Staff Course, Field Artillery Master Gunners Course, and the Sergeants Major Academy. He has also earned the Basic Instructor Badge.
CSM Hespe is married to his wife, Stephanie, and they have two children: Addyson, age 17, and John, age 16.
