Command Sgt. Maj. Tyler E. Bell was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he graduated from Washburn High School in 2000.
He joined the Army in 2002 as a Field Artillery Cannon Crew Member at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
Command Sgt. Maj. Bell served as a Battalion Command Sergeant Major, Brigade Operations Sergeant Major, and Senior Military Science Instructor.
He deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and deployed to Kuwait and Europe in support of Operation Spartan Shield and Atlantic Resolve.
Command Sgt. Maj. Bell’s duty stations include: 1st Battalion, 6th Field Artillery Regiment, Grafenwoehr, Germany; 1st Information Operations Command (Land), Fort Belvoir, Virginia; Indiana University Purdue University at Indianapolis ROTC; 1st Battalion, 7th Field Artillery, Fort Riley, Kansas; Joint Multinational Readiness Center (JMRC), Hohenfels, Germany; 1st Battalion, 319th Airborne Field Artillery Regiment (ABN), Fort Liberty, North Carolina; 1st Battalion, 377th Field Artillery (AASLT), Fort Liberty, North Carolina; and 1st Battalion, 321st Field Artillery (ABN), Fort Liberty, North Carolina Command Sgt. Maj. Bell’s military and civilian education includes the U.S. Army Airborne School, Jump Master, Pathfinder, Air Assault, Rappel Master, Army Information Operations Planners Course, SHARP Course, Equal Opportunity Leaders Course, Company Intelligence Officer Course, Advanced Situational Awareness Course, Army Deception Planners Course, Observer Controller Course, Heavy Weapon Leaders Course, and the Field Artillery Master Gunners Course. He is also a graduate of the Sergeants Major Course, Senior Leaders Course, Advance Leaders Course, and Warrior Leaders Course.
He has an Associate Degree in General Studies and a bachelor’s degree in leadership and workforce development.
Command Sgt. Maj. Bell’s awards and decorations include the Master Parachutist, Pathfinder, Air Assault, Master Gunner, and Combat Action Badges. The Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal (1 SLC), Army Commendation Medal (4 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (1 SLC, 2OLC), Meritorious Unit Citation (4 OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal (7th Award), Iraq Campaign Medal (1-SS), Global War on Terror Expeditionary and Service Medals, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal (3-GS), Army Service Medal, and Overseas Service Medal (numeral 8). He has also been inducted into the Honorable Order of Saint Barbara.
Command Sgt. Maj. Bell is married and has three children.
