BIOGRAPHY

Colonel Jeffrey W. Pickler commissioned in June 2001 as a Second Lieutenant in the Field Artillery from the United States Military Academy. He served as a Company Fire Support Officer and Battery Executive Officer in the 1st Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division from April 2002 until May 2004, deploying once in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

He later served as a Company Fire Support Officer in the 2nd Ranger Battalion at Fort Lewis, Washington, where he deployed three additional times to Operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom.

Following the Field Artillery Captain’s Career Course, Colonel Pickler assumed responsibilities as the Battalion Fire Support Officer for the 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry (Airborne) in the 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team (ABCT) in Vicenza, Italy. During a 15-month deployment to Operation Enduring Freedom, he assumed command of the 173rd Headquarters Company. After redeploying, Colonel Pickler attended graduate school at Columbia University before serving as a Company Tactical Officer and later in the Office of the Superintendent at the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York.

Upon graduating from the Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, in June 2014, Colonel Pickler served as the Operations Officer and Executive Officer for the 2nd Battalion, 8th Field Artillery in the 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division at Fort Wainwright, Alaska. He then moved to Washington, D.C., where he was assigned to the Joint Staff in the Chairman’s Action Group and later served as Aide-de-Camp to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs from March 2016 to October 2019.

Colonel Pickler commanded the "Angry Vikings" of the 2nd Battalion, 12th Field Artillery in the 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division from November 2019 to June 2021. He later completed his War College Fellowship at the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies and subsequently served as the Marshall Center Chief of Staff. Most recently, he served as Commander of the 1st Infantry Division Artillery (DIVARTY) at Fort Riley, Kansas, from July 2023 through May 2025.

Colonel Pickler’s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, and Army Achievement medal.

Colonel Pickler is married and has four children.
