Dynamic Front

The next iteration of exercise Dynamic Front takes place from Nov. 4-24, 2024 in Finland, Estonia, Germany, Poland, and Romania. It demonstrates NATO’s ability to share fire missions, target information, and operational graphics from the Arctic to the Black Sea.
The exercise increases the lethality of the Alliance through long-distance fires, builds unit readiness in a complex joint, multi-national environment, and leverages host nation capabilities to increase USARUER-AF’s operational reach. Dynamic Front is planned to include more than 1,800 U.S. and 3,700 multi-national service members from 28 Allied and partner nations.

U.S. Army paratroopers assigned to 2nd Battalion (Airborne), 503rd Infantry Regiment—“The Rock”—witnessed the ceremonial passing of the guidon as Lt. Col. Sheldon E. Broedel relinquished command to Lt. Col. William T. Freakley at Del Din, Vicenza, Italy, June 12, 2025. The ceremony honored Lt. Col. Broedel’s leadership and legacy while welcoming Lt. Col. Freakley as he assumed command of one of the most historic battalions in the 173rd Airborne Brigade.

The 173rd Airborne Brigade is the U.S. Army's Contingency Response Force in Europe, providing rapidly deployable forces to the United States European, African, and Central Command areas of responsibility. Forward stationed in Italy and Germany, the brigade routinely trains alongside NATO allies and partners to build readiness and strengthen the alliance.
